This series evolved from my long practice as a calligrapher, studying traditional Japanese and Chinese ink painting. I call this new body of work Jiyū, or “Freedom” in Japanese. In this series the rules are long gone, and there are no recognizable words. The language is pure mark making and abstract gesture. The process is wildly experimental and joyful, influenced by music. I paint intuitively in ink and later recompose through digital layering, printing the final art in a range of palettes on canvas, paper, metal or other substrates. The work may be customized for residential and corporate interiors and is available to the individual collector as limited edition prints. Prices range from $350-$3,000 depending on scale, substrate and the size of the edition. Contact me for information on how to purchase a specific piece.
